We have a Sony cell sorter that can be found in lab 505. To gain access to this instrument, there are a few steps:

1. Contact support.bakarlabs@berkeley.edu to discuss your application.

2. Either include the use in your BUA application or submit a BUA amendment that describes the work you want to use the sorter for.

**Once your BUA application or BUA amendment is approved, you can get trained and begin using it.**

3. Read and understand the SOP (link provided by Bakar Labs staff)

4. Get trained on the instrument! The Lab Ops team will provide you with the details of what training is required for you.

a. If you are familiar with the instrument and someone else at your company has already been trained on it, you may be able to get training from them directly.

b. If your company is new to using the Sony Cell Sorter, Lab Ops will put you in contact with Sony to arrange training with their technicians directly. Please be aware that there is a fee associated with getting this training from Sony, which you will be responsible for.

5. Begin using the Sony!

Chips are available for $400 per set of 10 chips.

Note: The Sony can be used for both BSL-1 and BSL-2 work. Which ever you intend to do, must be approved in your BUA materials.
