Required Lab Safety Training

Requirements

  • ALL LABORATORY PERSONNEL MUST attend the live Safety Training session prior to beginning lab work. Anyone who enters the labs for any reason also needs to have completed this training requirement.

  • Temporary Access if Live Safety Training is not immediately available: if lab work must commence before a live session can be attended, please watch a video of Thom's safety training and then submit a ticket requesting to take the accompanying quiz.

  • If safety video and safety test is passed: you will be provided temporary lab access for up to 60 days, this does NOT take the place of attending the LIVE presentation.

  • To obtain permanent lab access, one must ALSO attend the next scheduled live presentation of the Safety Training. Failure to attend an in-person safety training within two months will result in the loss of laboratory access.

Training Schedule

  • Thom Opal, QB3 Laboratory Safety Specialist, conducts a monthly safety training in the Bakar Labs Auditorium.

  • Events @ Bakar Labs calendar will show the next scheduled Safety Training session. This is a required training for all laboratory personnel and highly recommended for non-laboratory personnel.

Annual Recertification Requirement

  • Lab personnel must take the LIVE training annually to stay up-to-date with safety requirements and regulations.

  • If you have been out of compliance for two months (ie. 14 months since you previously attended an in-person safety training), your lab access will be removed and you will be unable to enter the labs until you attend safety training again.

If you wand to find the slides Thom uses or check the attendance records for past safety trainings, you can find them in this folder.
