INBOUND SHIPMENTS

Deliveries get sent to the 2nd floor loading dock, where we do our best to organize the packages by company name. Please keep track of packages you are expecting, and visit the loading dock to pick them up. However, be aware that some deliveries (especially those made through USPS) may take an extra day to arrive at Bakar Labs, as they are delivered to Berkeley Main Campus and must be rerouted here.

LARGE SHIPMENTS or SHIPMENTS REQUIRING SIGNATURE

For any shipments that require a signature or large shipments that are scheduled, Bakar Labs staff is not responsible for receiving and storing these shipments. Please make sure that your contact information is provided to the delivery company. Bakar Labs staff cannot move your equipment for you so please make sure that you pay for delivery/installation into your lab space.

If you will be moving any large equipment into or out of the building, you will need to obtain a Certificate of Insurance from the vendor/moving company bringing the equipment into or out of the building. You can find the requirements of this COI here, and please submit this COI to the Business Ops team prior to the date of your equipment's arrival.

By default, Bakar Labs staff will sign with mail carriers to accept packages that require signatures, including hazardous materials, and notify you that we have received these items via Slack. If you would prefer to directly sign for all packages for your company, please submit a ticket. We will contact you once and if we do not receive a response then we will reject the delivery.

DRY ICE/PERISHABLE SHIPMENTS

If you are expecting any items arriving on dry or wet ice please be prompt in retrieving them from the receiving area. We do our best to notify tenants of any perishable packages that arrive through the #perishables channel of Slack, but we cannot guarantee we will always see them as soon as they arrive. If you will be unable to come for a temperature sensitive package, please alert one of the members of the Bakar Labs team.

OUTBOUND SHIPMENTS

Shipping packages is most easily done at FedEx or the Post Office, both of which are a few blocks from Bakar Labs. We are unable to ship any packages containing dry ice, or any other IATA or DOT regulated “dangerous goods,” however FedEx and the Post Office can handle these types of packages.
