On-Campus Resources

IGI Next Generation Sequencing Core is a joint initiative of the Innovative Genomics Institute’s Center for Translational Genomics, the IGI Clinical Laboratory, and IGI Investigators. The NGS Core was established to advance genome-engineering innovations by providing rapid, state-of-the-art, cost-effective, in-house sequencing services for IGI members. The IGI NGS Core offers a growing range of services, from library construction to sequencing to complete experimental design and support. The sequencers that comprise the foundation of the NGS Core include two Illumina MiSeqs, an Illumina iSeq, and their highest capacity machine, an Illumina NextSeq2000. Together, these instruments provide IGI members with a flexible array of options and enable the NGS Core to support a broad range of applications and projects simultaneously. Reach out to NGS Core Operations Manager Netravathi Krishnappa (netrak@berkeley.edu) to schedule a consultation.

QB3 Genomics Facility provides many services including Illumina (by-the-sample & Library Prep), 10X Preps, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore Sequencing, iTag/Amplicon Sequencing, Illumina Sequencing MiSeq, NextSeq2000, NovaSeq X, and several QC services. Here's a price overview for all services. QB3 Genomics is a partnership between the Vincent J. Coates Genomics Sequencing Lab (GSL), the Functional Genomics Laboratory (FGL), and the Computational Genomics Resources Facility (CGRL). QB3 Genomics’ mission is to make genomics research tractable and affordable to UC Berkeley and the greater genomics community. Reach out to the core director Shana McDevitt (shana.mcdevitt@berkeley.edu OR schedule a meeting) if you want to scope a sequencing project.

UC Berkeley DNA Sequencing Facility provides many services including include Sanger and Nanopore Sequencing, Cell Line Authentication, Plasmid Preps, PCR plate cleanups, ddPCR, qPCR, and more. Pickup is Monday - Friday at 4:00 pm. To set up an account, email drgeller@berkeley.edu AND brianmcc@berkeley.edu with the following information: organization name, address, phone number, billing contact, and email address. The DNA Sequencing Facility has extended Bakar Bio Labs-specific pricing on the following services, effective May 24th, 2025:

Currently there are a handful of companies providing sequencing drop boxes at Bakar Bio Labs. They are all located in the loading dock. If you want to set up a drop box for a service, please submit a Freshdesk Ticket to coordinate with Bakar Bio Labs staff on placement.

ELIM Bio also provides Monday - Friday pickup at 3:00 pm from a dropbox in the loading dock. Click here to create an account.

GeneWiz [Azenta] provides Monday - Friday pickup at 3:00 pm from a dropbox in the loading dock.

Primordium Labs offers an on-demand pickup at Bakar Bio Labs. Create an account here and submit orders before 1:30 pm to ensure that your samples get picked up. This system may change to a daily pickup if enough samples per week are submitted.

Eurofins Genomics offers an on-demand pickup at Bakar Bio Labs. Contact Jessica Rhine (JessicaRhine@eurofinsus.com) and Cameron Flechsenhaar (CameronFlechsenhaar@eurofinsus.com) and let them know you're a Bakar Labs tenant and to take advantage of their pricing. LabOps has a supply of prepaid UPS envelopes, put in a Freshdesk Ticket. Load your samples into the envelope and add them to the dropbox in the loading dock. Scan the QR code on the UPS placard before 2:30 pm to ensure that your samples get picked up. Results are typically delivered by the following afternoon.
