There are three machine shops on campus, the Jacobs Hall Makerspace, UC Berkeley Mechanical Engineering Shop, and the NanoLab Machine Shop.
As of Spring 2026, both the Jacobs Makerspace and UC Berkeley Mechanical Engineering shops are only available to UC Berkeley academic labs and staff and are expected to stay that way through the end of the calendar year. Bakar Labs Staff will re-visit this in 2027 in anticipation of the opening of Bakar Labs for Energy & Materials in 2028.
The NanoLab Machine Shop can do jobs for Bakar Labs resident companies. They are part of the Marvell NanoLab, so may have more capabilities than the website below mentions. They bill at the 'Affiliate' hourly rate.
