Service Animals
A service animal is an animal that is trained to perform specific tasks for and support an individual with a disability, and are welcome here at Bakar Labs. If you or one of your employees plans to bring a service animal to the building, we request that you inform the Bakar Labs team via ticket, or during the onboarding process. Our team may ask if the animal is required because of a disability and what work or task the animal is trained to perform, but may not ask about the nature of the disability.
While a service animal is in the building or on the University campus, it must be under the control of its handler at all times. In general, this means that the animal needs to have a harness, leash, or other tether. However if physical control is not possible without interfering with the animal's work, then other control methods must be employed.
Service animals may not be brought into the shared labs without prior discussion with our team.
Emotional Support Animals
Emotional Support Animals are animals that are not specifically trained to assist with an individual's disability, but instead provide a calm or comfort from their presence. They are not considered service animals, and due to the nature of Bakar Labs as a shared workspace, we do not permit them in the building.
