Ethernet Connections and Computer Setup

Ethernet ports can be found in every private office and private lab, as well as in a couple locations in each open labs. If you are leasing a space that has one of these ethernet ports, you are welcome to connect a device (ie. router, firewall, etc.) or computer to that port.

However, in order for that device/computer to gain network connectivity, it will first have to be registered with UC Berkeley campus network services and whitelisted on the campus firewall. Please submit a ticket describing what you are attempting to set up, and include the Wired/Ethernet MAC address for the device. (If you do not know how to find your MAC address, do not worry, we will be happy to assist you). After your device has been registered, you should be able to connect it to the ethernet normally.

Unfortunately, remote desktops and VPNs to equipment or networks at Bakar Labs are not possible.
