HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL SPILL
Spill Kit Use and Spill Reporting
1.  Isolate the spill & alert others to leave the immediate vicinity while the situation is evaluated, and it is determined whether it is safe to approach the spill or not.

2.  Attend to injuries:  911 or (510) 642-3333
        Injury/Exposure – take victim to fresh air; get medical care
        Eye or skin exposure: flush with water for 15 minutes

3.  Notify Bakar Bio Labs Safety Officer, Thom Opal:  (510) 207-4770

4.  Identify chemicals and review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS)  
        Call Thom Opal for assistance with SDSs and spill response

5.  Does spill pose an Inhalation Hazard?  Is Respiratory Protection needed?  Is it a LARGE spill?  
        Call EH&S for spill cleanup assistance:  (510) 642-3073

6.  If it is safe to do so, and you are comfortable with the task, wear PPE and clean up the spill.
        Chemical Spill Kits are in each lab (black tub/yellow lid) – follow directions in the kit

7.  Report the spill and the spill kit items used:  support.bakarlabs@berkeley.edu

IMPORTANT NOTE:   
If chemicals spill down the sink, immediately notify EH&S:  (510) 642-3073
