Three Levels of Building Access at Bakar Labs

Requirements to gain access to resources at Bakar Labs

Each additional access level requires having obtained the previous level(s).

Level 1: Building Access

New Member Orientation

Enables: Receive keycard with access to the office areas of the building

Material: Slides

Orientation Frequency: Weekly on Mondays, see Events @ Bakar Labs calendar below

Duration: 50 minutes

Requirements: Required for all members of the Bakar Labs community, and covers general building safety topics important to all building occupants.

Note: People with only Level 1 access may not enter the labs

Level 2: General Lab Access

Permanent Lab Access: In Person Safety Training

Enables: Permanent Lab access to common leased lab spaces

Material: Slides

Orientation Frequency: Monthly, see Events @ Bakar Labs calendar

Duration: 2hrs

Requirements: Complete Level 1. Attend in person and sign in.

Note: This training must be retaken annually to maintain lab access.

Temporary Lab Access: Video Safety Training And Quiz

Enables: Temporary Lab access to common leased lab spaces

Material: Video and Quiz (please submit a ticket to request the quiz)

Orientation Frequency: Anytime

Duration: 2hrs

Requirements: Complete Level 1, view video, pass quiz (70% or above).

Note: For permanent lab access, you must attend next in-person training.

If you fail to attend an in-person training within 60 days of gaining lab access, your laboratory access will be revoked.

Level 3: Specialized Access

Tissue Culture Access (rooms 116/502)

Key Card Access Enabled After Completing Level 1 & 2, and completing the steps below

Material: SOP

Orientation Frequency: Weekly, see Events @ Bakar Labs calendar below

Duration: 15 minutes

Requirements: In Order - Complete Level 1 & 2. Be added to your company's BUA, sign SOP, attend the orientation in person.

Microbial Room Access (room 119A)

Key Card Access Enabled After Completing Level 1 & 2, and completing the steps below

Material: SOP

Orientation Frequency: Weekly, see Events @ Bakar Labs calendar below

Duration: 15 minutes

Requirements: In Order - Complete Level 1 & 2. Be added to your company's BUA, sign the SOP, and attend the orientation in person.

Specialized Equipment Rooms (rooms 505 & 128)

Key Card Access Enabled After Completing Levels 1 & 2, and submitting a ticket requesting this access. CC your supervisor in the ticket, and provide a list of instruments you plan to use.

Requirements: Additional $300/month per person with access. Requires supervisor approval to enable.

Additional Requirements within the Specialized Equipment Rooms (505 & 128)

Please submit a Freshdesk ticket to inquire about gaining access. List the equipment you intend to use within your first 1-2 months of start. Many instruments require you to read and sign an SOP, plus additional training and/or orientations depending on the instrument. The LabOps team will collaborate with you to fulfill any pre-requisites to get you on the system ASAP. Examples of equipment in the rooms include.

Agilent LC/MS (Room 128)
Sony Cell Sorter (Room 505)
Beckman Floor Centrifuge (Rooms 128 & 505)
Agilent Bravo Liquid Handler, PlateLoc, and Tapestation (Room 128)
NovoCyte Flow Cytometer (Room 505)
qPCR & dPCR Systems
Plate Readers and Imagers
Tenant-Shared Equipment
